Microsoft is pushing two new builds, 16241 for PCs and 15230 for phones. Both builds are rolling out for Insiders on Fast Ring. To download ISOs look at the bottom page.
Build 16241 brings some new features and improvements, and it is the last build before Bug Bash. With Fall Creators Update scheduled for September, we might stop seeing new features very soon.
What's new?
Windows Shell Improvements
- Recover pin or password: You can now recover your pin or password from the lock screen. Under the pin/password input, you can find the link Reset Password or I forgot my Pin.
- Acrylic Material refinements: The noise layer of Acrylic Material is softened. Check the image below
for comparison.
- Task Manager (GPU section): The GPU section under Tab performance got tweaked again. You will now see
by default multi-engine charts, showing performance for the four most active GPU engines. You can also find a new
total GPU memory text counter and the DirectX label, in addition to DirectX version, also contains the highest supported
DX feature level.
- Task Manager (improved labeling for Edge processes): Processes are now grouped by apps (introduced earlier), so Microsoft is improving how Edge processes are labeled. In addition to processes for each Tab opened, you will also find additional processes such Chakra JIT Compiler, UI Service, and Manager process, which weren't labeled as such previously.
Mixed Reality
There are several improvements to Mixed Reality. You can find the full changelog here.
Delivery Optimization Improvements
Under delivery optimization settings page you will find two new links.
- Advanced Options: You can now configure various Download and Upload settings
- Activity Monitor: You can now see overall bandwidth used in Downloads (OS updates, Store app downloads, etc.)
If you don't remember, Delivery Optimization is used as the main downloader for Windows Update and Windows Store. It makes those downloads faster and more reliable.
