Microsoft is releasing a new update for People app, which new version is 10.2.1801.0. This update is rolling for Insiders on Fast Ring for mobile devices.
What's new?
This update doesn't seem to bring new features, but you can easily see Fluent Design.
- The contacts on list have the reveal effect (a slight light effect around contacts items);
- You can also see a light effect when you tap on a contact, which calls the user attention;
- The contact details view now has a true black background, instead of accent colour, which looks nice especially on AMOLED screens, and makes the app more consistent.
The downside of this new fluent design is poor performance. Hopefully, Microsoft will optimise the effects so that it doesn't affect the scrolling smoothness. Not only is sluggish on low-end devices (my Lumia 530 and 650), but also on high-end phones like 950 (as I have seen people reporting on the web).

You can download the APPX using the button below. This APPX works on phones, but it also contains a package for x86 CPU's. I didn't test it myself, but it should work. Keep it mind this update is not officialy available for PCs.
Update (14th July): The app got a new update which removed the fluent design. The new version is 10.2.1921.0.
