New Windows 10 Build 16226 heads to Insiders with lots of features - Download ISOs

After latest week build, with tons of improvements and a lot of features, this week is the second round. From Edge to emojis, to GPU performance monitor, more Fluent Design, and further! As always, you can download ISO's for this build, 16226, on this article bottom.

What's new?

Edge improvements

More control over closing tabs

Edge has been improved to ensure the X button is always available in each tab so that you can close it, even when dialogs are showing.

Migration is now easier

You can now migrate Cookies and Settings from Chrome browser to Edge.

Cortana on EPUBs

When reading EPUBs, when you select the text you now have an option to Ask Cortana, and also Copy, alongside adding notes, highlight and underlining which were added in previous builds.

Books are synced across devices

Your books from Windows Store are available on any Windows 10 device, and your reading progress, bookmarks, and notes are synced.

Improved favorites management experience

When you add a new favorite, you can now view your favorites as a directory tree and you can collapse and expand folders.
Also, you can now edit the URL of any favorite in the menu or in the Favorites bar.

Emoji

Within this update, Microsoft is introducing new emojis to support latest Unicode updates.
In addition, some emojis were tweaked to keep consistency with how emojis are displayed on other platforms.

Emoji Panel

You can now search emojis on Emoji Panel. When you open it using the shortcuts Win+. or Win+;, if you keep typing, for example, "flower", and all flowers related emojis will show up. This is still under work, according to Dona Sarkar.

Finally, emoji panel now supports a dark theme.

OneDrive Files On-Demand

Remember the old days of OneDrive placeholders? They are back but better. For those unfamiliar, this feature allows you to view all your OneDrive files, however, they are shown as thumbnails instead of saved on disk, as OneDrive currently does. Of course, you still have the option to selectively always keep files on disk and sync them.

Lots of improvements for touch keyboard

Microsoft is extending support for dozens of languages for shape writing and text prediction.
There are also improvements for japanese touch keyboard, and some UI tweaks and improvements.

Xbox networking

Under Settings > Gaming you will find a Xbox Networking section. It's designed to help you diagnose and identify issues preventing you from using voice chatting and playing on multiplayer.

Task Manager

You can now track GPU performance on task manager. Under performance tab, you will see all your GPU's listed. If you click on it, you can see a performance graph similar to the one for CPU's. This graph is really neat as you can monitor GPU components individually such 3D, video encoding, etc.

Below the performance graph, you can find driver information such version and date, and also GPU memory usage.
Finally, under Details tab, you can see how much GPU each process is using.

Storage Sense

If you still don't know this feature, it basically intends to free up space periodically. In addition, to delete temporary files from store apps and clean recycle been, within this build it will also clean Windows.old folder, which is created when you update Windows, for example, from build 15063 'Creators Update' to build 16226.

'Reveal' everywhere!!

With Fluent Design, there is a special hovering highlight that helps guide users. This effect is now enabled by default on many XAML controls (used across apps and system components). Therefore, you will see 'Reveal' in more places across Windows.

If you right click a file you can see a Share option.
