On past day 27th May, Microsoft released a new update for Mail & Calendar app, for both phones and PC’s enrolled on Insider Program. On that day, I didn’t found anything new, therefore decided to not publish the app. However, today I have found two changes and decided to share.
What's new?
It’s worth mentioning that the app on Production Ring, is 17.8218, while this new release version is 17.8241. The major number increased several units, which could mean a lot of changes. Whenever it’s work under the hood or new features, that’s hard to tell since the changelog Microsoft provides is out of date.
Fortunately, I have found a new feature and a slightly change. Hopefully there’s more to discover.
- The new feature is e-mail reading related. You can now preview images attached to an e-mail from the e-mail list. The same you can preview the e-mail text content, it can now show images too. From my experience, it shows in-line images, not necessarily attached image files. I need to explore a bit more this feature!
- The minor change I mentioned is notifications. Previously, the notifications had action buttons, like “Set flag” and “Delete”. Instead of simple flat buttons, now they use buttons with icons. A small but welcome change in my opinion.
- Update, 3rd June! I just noticed you can resize the columns. Not only the e-mail list, but also navigation panel.

To download the package file, select the version you want on the combobox, which lists all minor updates from the version 17.8241. By default, the selected version is the default.
Then, click 'Download' and you will reach the download page.
It's worth mentioning that all APPX work on mobile devices and desktop (x86 and x64)!
